You could test the outputs as we described in the “Perform an Acceptance Test” lesson and skip the outputs that aren’t in use. You can return to that lesson if you want a refresher on those techniques.

I think that a maintenance test should also test the logic inside the relay along with the associated end-devices and wiring.  This video will show you how you can perform a more comprehensive and effective output testing technique.
